Match Report

Sunday 11th November – Bancroft u13s 5 Harlow u13s 55 – League

This week our young red men travelled to Bancroft looking to build on last week’s victory over Dagenham.

Bancroft started the game in possession but despite numerous phases of play they were unable to break Harlow’s defensive line and were pinned in their own 22. From this defensive pressure Harlow won a scrum which resulted in the backs running a well-executed DSP move which was finished off by Henry. This was shortly followed by a turnover in the Bancrofts 22 and the ball was passed along the line and scored by Archie for his first try of the season. Harlow now with the bit between their teeth were passing the ball with confidence and good display of hands resulted in 2 tries being scored in quick succession both by Joe on the wing. Danny “Bouldering” Billington lived up to his nickname when taking a crash ball off of a ruck to score and shortly after in similar fashion Jamie crashed over the line to make to score at half time 30-0.

Following a player led team talk at half time Harlow started the second half how they finished the first. From a scrum on the half way line Harlow’s backs ran a move they’ve been practicing in training for weeks which was executed to perfection and resulted in Joe going over for his hat trick try and Harlow’s best try of the season so far. A try that wouldn’t of looked out of place in Harlow’s First XV. Going from strength to strength Harlow ran in 4 more tries before the end of the game, with Joe grabbing his 4th with a superb sidestep, Archie his 2nd and Toby scoring 2 good individual tries. Bancroft managed one try in return which their effort deserved but they were no match for the young red men today. Final score 5-55.

Harlow’s best performance of the season so far. They have really stepped up to the plate in the last couple of weeks and are displaying skills, particularly in defence, that had been absent earlier in the season, that paired with a fantastic attitude from every young man has resulted in two successive wins and we travel to Dagenham next week looking to make it 3!!
