June Move Update

I am extremely pleased to announce that after 20 years since the conception of the ideas of moving, last Tuesday we signed all the legal agreements which effectively brings those plans to reality.

Since the start of this project, there are several key individuals who are no longer with us but deserve a quick prayer of thanks from all the members, Ron Bracewell, Dr Cliff Bishop, John Hurley, Alan Webb, who were part of the first project team, then Chris Locke, who represented the club so well at the two planning tribunals we were forced to go through, I pray that they are sitting happy in the knowledge that their efforts eventually paid off and of course Mike Ryland and Ross Loveday who were also part of the team and thankfully still with us and hopefully will be with us to see the fruits of their labour.

I would also like to thank Ian Gallentree , Alan Price and Jem Poyser, who over the later years have also been instrumental in moving this project forward.

So what does this all mean?, well in simple terms “we are on the move” Work will commence on site on the 5th July with occupancy March/April 2017, completion date will be confirmed following a project meeting next week.

So what has happened in the last week?
Kier Land exercised their option on Ram Gorse and now holds a charge over Ram Gorse.
The Club signed a lease with the Councilwhich means we are now the custodians of Latton Farm (west) and can commence the planned works.
Kier who are responsible for the delivery of the new facilities have formally appointed the following teams:

Management Team
Stace LLP
, to act as our Quality Assurance Partners and will have a permanent presence on site for the duration of the project.
TGMS, to act as the Club’s consultant to oversee the construction of the playing facilities.
Kier Project Management
Club’s Representative

Design Team:
Saunders Architects LLP
 as the Principal Architect.
Van Zyl & de Villiers (VZDV) as the design consultant for the M&E works.
Clark Smith Partnership, as the design consultant for the construction works.

Construction Team:
Hutton Group
as the main contractor, who will actually build the facilities.
AT Bone as the pitch, drainage, irrigation and lighting contractor.

What is very pleasing and reassuring is that the Management Team, Design Team and TGMS have been working on this project since May last year and have in essence created the design that the Construction Team will follow, so keeping them on board was essential.
