Minis Festival 2017

Minis Festival 2017

The festival day started off the evening before with many coaches arriving on Saturday evening to set up their pitches ready for the big day. Sunday was an early start for some but the last of the set up went smoothly. Clubs started arriving from 8:30am and car parking in the main car park and the re-direction to the overflow car park was extremely successful. The pitches began to fill up nicely with lots of smiley faces from both children and adults alike. Registration of the teams took place at 9:30am, with only 2 out of the 65 teams not turning up. Kick off was at 10:30am, with 12 clubs, 63 teams and 611 players in total, playing mini rugby throughout the 4 hours at Harlow Rugby Club. We had a few minor injuries that were tended to by the on-site St Johns team and one Under 9 from a visiting club being taken to hospital with a dislocated hip and groin sprain, who is now recovering well. The last of the games finished around 3pm, many visitors left for the day and some retreated to the bar and the terrace area for some delicious food and drink. There were smiles all round, fantastic rugby played and many positive comments were received by many members. The clear up of the premises began and everyone dug in and helped and by 3:30pm you would never have known that we had 1200+ visitors on site, everything had been taken down, put away and the pitches were spotless.

Many thanks to everyone who has helped in any way, the day was a huge success because of all involved!
