Chairman’s Update

Update from Tracey Wedd, Chairman

As we are all moving towards a new normal, I wanted to update you on our restart activities and operational plans.
Firstly, we are very much on track to create a fully compliant Covid Secure facility.  We will be operating within Government and Public Health England guidelines to ensure we have a safe environment for you, your family, and our staff.
The Club will reopen on Friday 31st July for Members, and their household (or support bubble).
The Latton Park Bars will be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The Scrum & Hooker Terrace Bar will open to support rugby training on weekday evenings, and over the weekends.
The opening times of our bars will be reviewed on a regular basis depending on demand and staff rotas.
The Club have considered safety first, particularly minimising the risk of infection and transmission and therefore appropriate measures have been put in place.  So, on entry to the Club please expect the following:
  • You will be greeted at the Club entrance by our Floor Manager.
  • One person from your household/support bubble will need to sign in, as part of the Government’s Track and Trace requirements.
  • You will be required to hand sanitise on entry.
  • Tables and chairs will be laid out to achieve specified social distancing, both inside and outside – under no circumstances should these be moved by you or your guests.
  • We will operate by table service only – you cannot stand at the bar.
  • Drinks must be ordered, and paid for with a card, via a mobile application called “Round” – it is simple, easy to use and will keep everyone seated at the table.  If you are uncomfortable with using an App, please make it known to the Floor Manager when you are seated.
  • There will be restricted capacity as per Government guidelines.
  • Children are welcome but must remain seated with their guardians at all times, and must be escorted to and from the toilets.
  • Social distancing reminders will be displayed around the Club.
  • There will be increased hygiene standards throughout the Club.
  • Entry and Exit points will be clearly marked.
  • The Smoking Area will be moved to another location, to be confirmed; please adhere to this!
  • The Kitchen will remain closed at this time.
  • Booking is not required, but can be done via phoning the Clubhouse on 01279 429750, or by emailing HrfcClub@gmail.com
  • We will not condone any action that puts our Staff at risk.  Any breach will result in investigation and action as necessary.

Membership Discounts
As the club strives to get back on its feet, with limitations on capacity, no events, no standing at the bar, and the installation of the “Round” Application with table service only, the Club Executive and Club Management have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend any membership discounts whilst in the early phases of re-opening.  We do however wish to offer each Member a free drink, as a thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support during this time.  Your voucher should be collected from the Floor Manager on your visit to the Club.
Membership 2020-2021
The Club Committee has agreed that whilst a small increase had been planned for season 2020-2021, since the 2019-2020 season was cut short by COVID-19, and with our forthcoming temporary suspension of members’ bar discounts, we will hold prices for this year.  As a reminder, our direct debit payment plans enable you to spread the cost of membership across 12 months, even though rugby is usually only played for 8-10 months of the year.
Return to Rugby
Our return to rugby roadmap Phase B, pitch allocation and training schedule is now complete.
Training Commences:
Senior Men Tuesday 4th August
Youth Wednesday 5th August
Colts & Ladies Thursday 6th August
Minis Sunday 6th September
The RFU have advised that working with expert medical advice and applying the activity exposure framework to various formats of rugby, they will update following discussions with the Government.  In the short term it is likely that the format of rugby the community game is able to play will be a modified version, not the full 15 a side game.  For now, we remain at Phase B of the roadmap.
Phase B Small Group Training: Exercise within a small group (up to 6) and maintain social distance.  No face-to-face / close contact.  Equipment sharing kept to a minimum.
Our Chair of Rugby, Paul Tucker (Tux) will email all volunteers early next week with the full HRUFC Rugby Roadmap Phase B rules and safety measures for onward transmission to all players and parents, as applicable.
