Sunday 6th January – Eton Manor u13s 50 Harlow u13s 5 – League
We travelled to Eton Manor this Sunday to take their u13s on their new 4G pitch. Fortunately we had a warmer day than was expected.
Our young red men turned up a little blurry eyed and slow off the mark which cost us in the first half as we took time to get into our stride and our ball retention at the break down wasn’t as good as it has been in recent weeks.
When Callum Boyce and debutant Jo Williams joined from the bench they added some much needed tempo to both our attack and the pressure we applied in defence.
Eton Manor however had already raced to a 20-0 lead by half time.
The second half was a different ball game, some harsh words were exchanged amongst the player from player to player and we went straight on the attack with some strong carrying from Ed Lea, Jamie Oliver and Brandon Jackson along with an improvement in the way we looked after the ball at the breakdown.
We scored shortly into the half with Jack Rushworth taking a quick tap penalty and sneaking over the line for his first try for us and we looked much more dangerous in attack.
Apologies for the short report this week, I’m running short on time.
