Match Report

Ladies Day @ HRUFC – Sunday 3rd September 2017

England Women – the Red Roses – narrowly missed out to New Zealand in the final of the World Cup in August and the publicity has helped boost Women’s Rugby and the recruitment of new players to the game.  England Rugby teamed up with Harlow Rugby Club to deliver an “#Inner Warrior” rugby taster session on Sunday 3rd September.  HRUFC introduced 12 ladies to the sport with a mix of fun activities and skills-based drills, culminating in games of Touch Rugby.

In the afternoon, Harlow Ladies welcomed two teams for a mini-tournament to celebrate the opening of the Club’s new home at Latton Park.  Both Chelmsford (National Challenge South East North 1) and Cuffley (National Challenge South East London 1) play a level above Harlow Ladies (National Challenge South East North 2) but Harlow were keen to kick start their season off on the front foot and came away happy with the standard and form of rugby they played.

GAME 1: Harlow v Chelmsford 22-19

Harlow Tries: Katie Boggas (2), Davina McLellan (1), Nichola Shambrook (1)

          Harlow Conversion: Katie Boggas (1)
