Match Report

Harlow’s last league game of the season was a tough challenge up against top of the table unbeaten Rochford.

Harlow started disappointingly by conceding two tries in the first fifteen minutes. With the score at 0 – 12 Harlow started to get into the game and apply pressure in Rochford’s half. Harlow Number 8 Scott Whitby charged down a defensive kick on Rochford’s twenty two metre line; quick thinking James Clark latched on to rebound and scored. With 20 minutes gone in the game Harlow were competing well. A couple of punches saw the referee handing out two yellow cards to each side. Unfortunately for Harlow, Rochford benefited from this by scoring four tries in the next ten minutes.

Harlow skipper Shaun Roberts finished the half by scoring Harlow’s second try and with Smith’s conversion this made the score 12 – 40 at half time.

In the second half Harlow’s only hope was to score two tries to get a bonus point. But this was not to be. Harlow had some good possession early in the half but as the game progressed Rochford fitness told and with some lovely flowing rugby they finished the half scoring four tries. Making the final score Harlow 12 Rochford 66.
