Match Report

On a blustery afternoon at Layton Park Harlow set out to protect their unbeaten league home record. They started well with an early penalty slotted by Smith and try from wing forward Weston so that after only 5 minutes they were 8 0 up. Within the next 10 minutes powerful run by Scott Stalley presented the supporting Weston with his second try taking the margin to 13 – 0.

Two Further tries by Matt Dodds and Ryan Mcclone and a conversion by Dan Smith put Harlow in a strong position after 30 minutes at 25 – 0 Giving Harlow their bonus try point for 4 tries.

Disappointingly Harlow’s defence was broken at the end of the first half with Canterbrigians scoring a Try & Converting with minutes to go making the score 25-7 at Half Time.

Harlow started the second half well with No. 8 Kain Claridge peeling from the back of the scrum and scoring Harlow’s 5th try Smith converted; 32 – 7 .

After 64 minutes Scrum Half Woodington was yellow carded for what was judged dangerous play. Cantabrigians capitalised on this by by hitting Harlow with 2 quick tries making it 32 – 19.

Harlow with Woodington back on the field applied the pressure with Ross Stalley’s darting run through their defence scoring Harlow’s 6th try for 39 – 19 conversion from Smith.

The try of the game came from Weston running the whole length of the pitch crashing through tackle after tackle completing his hat trick of tries.

A late try from the visitors final score. Harlow – 44, Cantabrigians – 26.

It had been great day specially for first Team Manager Kevin Ellis, who received his well deserved Life Membership tie from the Club President. A tribute to a club volunteer who has made a massive contribution over many years
