Match Report

On Sunday 5th February. 13 of our U14 girls team, made the short trip to Bishop Stortford for a friendly/development match against Bishop Stortford/Bedford & Biggleswade. Playing 3 periods with our combined hosts, they kindly supplied 3 players so we could have a 15 a side game with a replacement.

In a strongly contested 1st period, Harlow showed how well they have developed as a team with great support play and strong running as well as rucking and controlled lineouts. There was a great break from Elsie Jones and with sheer determination, she went over for the 1st score of the match. The combined opponents tried and tried again to get back into the 1st period, but with some superb tackling Harlow stood firm.
The next segment and it was more of the same from both sides and Harlow scored another try, courtesy of 1 of our loaned players with the combined team pulling 1 back. At the break, BS/Bedford & Biggleswade 1 try. Harlow 2.
On to the final period of the match, and some more fantastic support play from our girls showed as a team what they are capable of. Arrden Clarke picked up a loose ball, and made a break down the wing to score in the corner giving Harlow a lead 3 tries to 1.
Our combined hosts manage to pull a try back to make the final score BS/Bedford & Biggleswade 2, Harlow 3.
A great afternoon of girls rugby in perfect conditions. The overall performance from Harlow was fantastic with everyone who played giving 100%. Our player of the week goes to Leah Jackson, who for the 2nd time in as many weeks repositioned from 2nd row to flanker giving an outstanding display of tackling and strong running.
Well done girls.
