South Woodham Ferrers U14s 22 Harlow U14s 33

This past weekend, the young Harlow team traveled away to South Woodham Ferrers. With a win and a loss already against the tough opposition and a good run of games at home the young Rams had a point to prove in front of a large turn out of travelling support.

South Woodham won the toss and Harlow had the hill and the wind against them in the first half after a delayed kick off the Harlow youngsters got off to a slow start with South Woodham running in 3 early tries and one conversion. Not to be out done Harlow stepped it up a gear from the kick off and hit back with a piercing run by number 8 Jakub Frankowski resulting in Harlow’s first try of the game Tommy Johnston kicked the extra points. The Harlow XV were then firmly parked in the opposition 22 for the remainder of the first half, following some difficult phases of play and sheer determination the Harlow side worked the ball to centre Jamie Gaunt who crossed the line with a further 2 points being kicked by Johnston. Harlow continued to battle for the remainder of the first half but went into half time trailing the hosts 17 points to 14.

The Young Rams started the second half as they finished the first with Substitute Daniel Porter breaking multiple tackles and scoring under the posts with his first touch of the ball Johnston converted again.

The Harlow side faced some tough runs from the opposition backline but their proven defensive ability stood true again and with their newly found rucking techniques the Harlow XV held strong turning over possession and working the ball to inside Centre Louis Lynch who carried the ball over the line to add a further 5 points to the scoreboard.

South Woodham not a team to go down without a fight hit back strongly and Caught Harlow on the break scoring in the corner and bringing the game back to 26 -22. Harlow replied quickly with precious time left on the clock another striking run from Lynch resulted in the final try of the game with Johnston converting to secure the Harlow Victory with the score board standing at 33 points to 22.
