Match Report

Harlow U15’s V Basildon

So today saw our U15’s take on Basildon for our first league fixture.

Firstly, it was nice to see a very respectful 1 minute silence for our late queen. Well done both teams.

It was clear from the outset we was up against a very large physical side but it’s been proven in the past that we’re not phased by the size of our opponents.

From the first kickoff we knew we was in for a battle with Basildon scoring a well worked try. 0-7.

Our redmen dug in as they’ve done many times before resulting in a converted try of our own.

7-7

Game on !!

The game continued at a frantic pace with some big hits coming from both sides, nobody was giving an inch but eventually our forwards prevailed with two very gritty well worked tries.

Half time 17-7.

Basildon wasn’t ready to lay down just yet. The second half saw them come at Harlow with some great rugby. Huge scrummaging, hard running from the backs and some very slick moves.

The game got away from Harlow for a while with Basildon putting another try against us.

17-12.

Time to dig in. And dig in they did. It wasn’t pretty rugby for the remainder of the game which saw several players going down injured.

With only 4 minutes remaining saw Basildon come at Harlow with intentions of winning the game. As hard as they tried, Harlow could not retain the ball. It was all about defending. And defend they did. Right to the end.

We’ve had several new players start today and you’ve all stepped up to the mark

Final score Harlow 17-12 Basildon.
