Unfortunately this game was abandoned early in the second half due to a shoulder injury to one of the Cheshunt players. Up to that point it was a tight game. And Harlow played some lovely rugby.
Harlow played down the slope for the first half and from the kick off Harlow pushed Cheshunt back to their 22. Good defensive work from Cheshunt stopped our first attack. They then pushed us back to the halfway line where we gained control of the ball and pushed them back to their 22 again. We were strong in the tackling, line speed and moving the ball through the hands which resulted in our first try some 10 minutes into the game.
From Harlow scrum on their 22, the ball went into the backs who crashed into the Cheshunt defence. Our scrum had by now detached and came in to pick and go some 5m from their try line. Great defensive work again by Chesthunt held us up on the first attack but Harlow recycled it twice resulting in George Gazzard scoring. And from a difficult angle Connor Ingram managed to put the ball between the posts for the convention. 0-7
Second try was a great team effect. Again forwards taking the ball into contact. Harlow set up two pick and goes. This resulted in Cheshunt getting themselves sucked in. Harlow then switch play to the backs. With good hands through the backs, Sam Collins scored in the corner. Connor Ingram took the conversion despite it being a harder angle than the last conversion put the ball through the posts. 0-14
Unfortunately Harlow then gave away two soft tries resulting at half time the scores being even.
The second half meant that Harlow would be playing up the hill. Just after the start the injury happened. The player could not be moved from the pitch and there were no other pitches available so the ref had no option but to abandon the game.
