Match Report

Outstanding performance today from Harlow. We needed to win this game to put us back in contention for promotion from the league. From the off, Harlow were involved.
Good exchanges for the first 10 mins and Harlow started to get into their swing. We were strong in the breakdown which resulted in Harlow getting space and George Garner scoring some 10m out.  0-5. Then it was the turn of the backs. Good work from the forwards in securing the ball some 25m out then the ball was passed to the backs with good hands from Callum Wright who passed onto Connor Ingram. Connor straightened up which created an overlap which Sam Collins filled in. Great off load from Connor to Sam resulting in Sam running in. 0-10
From the restart Harlow was again up on Rochford. George Gazzard found himself some 10m from the try line. Instead of a usual scrum half pass, George saw a gap and took it. Scoring under the posts. Conversion from Connor Ingram resulting in the score being 0-17. From the restart Harlow had a scrum. The ball went out to the backs ending up in Daniel Keane’s hands and with one or two side steps scored under the posts. Conversion by Connor Ingram making the score 0-24
Half Time 0-24
Second half started with Harlow again up in Rochford half.  Rochford had secured the ball. Set their backs up. They started to pass the ball through the hands. Our backs came up quickly putting pressure onto Rochford resulting in an interception by Connor Ingram and Connor running in under the posts.  Conversion by Connor making the score 0-31. Rochford then scored. From a penalty to them some 25m out from Harlow try line. They passed the ball through the backs to the winger who scored in the corner. It didn’t take long for Harlow to score again.  Harlow had pushed Rochford back. Our forwards where now in the zone. Rucking over and securing the ball. Then with a quick pick and go George Garner powered his way to the try line. George was pushed back on his first attempt to score but with sheer straight George forced his way over and scored. 5-36.  It wasn’t long before George Garner scored again. It was pretty much the same move as the last time George scored. Connor Ingram made the conversion. Final score 5-43.
This was one of the best performances that this Harlow team have ever produced. They were quick to the breakdown, rucked and counter rucked in pairs, ran straight, passed the ball through the hands. Also ripping the ball plus good kicking to either clear their lines or to run onto.  Every squad player played their part today.
Man of the match.
Forwards: Cameron Howard.
For his energy and never given up. Despite running himself into the ground he just kept on going.
Backs: George Gazzard.
For getting into rucks when needed. Tacking hard and scoring a try. And also doing his scrum half job as well.
