Sunday 21st October – Harlow u13s 0 Upminster u13s 55 – Friendly
Today we hosted Upminster for a last minute arranged friendly. A few last minute withdrawals affected the line-up but we welcomed new debutant Jack Rushworth to the side for the first time.
Being a little concerned before the game that the team weren’t ready for a game and had their mind on things they couldn’t control.
Unfortunately we lost George Snowdon and Montelle Levy in warm up and Callum Hewett shortly into the game. It was pretty much one way traffic as the Upminster side pushed and pushed at us. 5, 10, 15, 25, 30, 35 to 0 by half time.
Half time: 0-35 (0 tries to 7)
The referee warned us at half time that if the game would remain this uncompetitive then he would finish the game early as Harlow didn’t appear to want to play today. The second half continued as the first 40, 45. 50, 55 to 0 and the referee blew early for full time.
Second half score: 0-20 (0 tries to 4)
So the elusive first win on the big pitch waits another week, the boys seem to be playing a lot of rugby at school and with us at the moment so perhaps a week off training this Wednesday will help. The team to play Stevenage away next Sunday will be announced on Friday morning, please make sure your availability is up to date.
There is always next week to put right the wrongs of today.
Final score: 0-55 (0 tries to 11)
Tries: not this week
Referee: Geoff Hargreaves
Man of the Match: Jamie Oliver, when the chips are down Jamie put in a heck of a lot of effort and set a great example for the rest of the team.
