Match Report

Harlow U15 15 v 7 Wanstead U15s

Big thank you to Wanstead today for stepping in when our original opponents were unable to fulfil this fixture. And what a game we had!

With very wet and cold conditions it started well for Harlow. Putting pressure onto Wanstead but they were a match for our forwards. Harlow pushed up to Wanstead’s 22 only to lose the ball and Wanstead pushed Harlow back to their 22. This repeated itself over several minutes. With great tackling, brilliant rucking and good passing from both teams it was proving to be a bit of a stale mate. Harlow eventually opened up the scoring. Harlow had a scrum 10m from Wanstead’s try line. The ball was picked up by our George Garner who ran into contact and presented the ball back to Leo Roach who powered over the line. 5 . 0. With minutes to go before the half Wanstead kicked the ball over Harlow’s 22. The ball rolled towards Harlow’s try line. Sam Collins noticing the danger ran to cover and dived on the ball. But the resulting ruck by Wanstead resulted in the ball being kicked towards Harlow’s try line but a desperate tackle from Daniel Ringer with help from Callum Wright prevented Wanstead scoring. Wanstead then unfortunately went over the top and killed the ball.

Half time 5 . 0

Second half started pretty much the same as the first. But this time Harlow were now slowly getting on top. With our pick up and go Harlow were putting Wanstead under huge pressure.
It was time for Harlow backs to push home the advantage. With great ball handling from George Gazzard and Connor Ingram, despite the wet conditions Harlow were able to get our centres up onto the game line and punched through. Harlow were now camped on Wanstead’s 22. The ball became lose and Daniel Keane picked up and scored in the corner. 10 . 0
From the restart it wasn’t long before Harlow had scored their third try. Great pick up and go resulting in George Garner scoring. 15 . 0. Wanstead came back and ran the ball up to Harlow’s try line with some great pick up and go themselves scoring nearly under the posts. They were successful with their conversion.

Final score 15 . 7

A great game of rugby from both teams
