RUGBY RESTART PHASE E – 2 DECEMBER

As you are mostly aware following the Government’s announcement last week that outdoor team sport can resume from Wednesday 2 December, the RFU have confirmed that the Government has now approved the RFU submission to return to 15-a-side contact rugby, with some adaptations. There will be no scrums or mauls in the game.

The Return to Community Rugby Roadmap has been updated to show a move from Phase D to Phase E. Whilst we have moved from Phase D to Phase E the clubs planning, including staggered arrival and training times remain the same. COVID-19 HRUFC – December Return To Rugby Phase E. We will provide further updates, as applicable.

Whilst this is the good news we’ve all been waiting we do need to carry on respecting and comply with all off-field social distancing and COVID-19 secure rules and continue sanitising and cleaning any equipment before, during and after use! You must also remember that our players haven’t taken part in any contact training since March so let’s take it easy and make sure you condition your players and only escalate contact when ready.

It should be noted that we still await further Government guidance on travel, changing, spectators and clubhouses. As it currently stands it should be noted that the changing rooms, club bar, outside bar and kitchen will not be open. Furthermore, until such time we get this guidance we will not be accepting any fixtures!

Hope it all makes sense!

Keep Safe, Stay Safe and take care of yourself.
