Shaping the future together; A Christmas Message

Shaping the future together!
As we build on our success in 2021 and beyond, I am excited to share an update on how we will be evolving our team. Our commercial goals are to create added value for our sponsors; enhance our hospitality and match sponsorship commitments; cross sell events and share that Latton Park/Harlow Rugby Club experience to both new and existing customers – all underpinned by our strong local relationships.

What’s next?
In the New Year and cognisant of Alan Brookings retirement in 2022 we will be recruiting two new people to work in our team. Alan has been instrumental in building strong foundations to help us achieve future success, now we need to invest in a Commercial Executive to help us grow the commercial aspects of the club with a focus on sponsorship generation and new business, together with, an Office Manager with experience in communication, marketing, administration, customer service and book-keeping.

If we truly want to meet our on-field ambitions and support the development of rugby at every single level the commercial success of the club is paramount. Rest assured, we will not lose our identity, we will not lose our raison d’être of ‘all things rugby’ so, please show your support and come along for the ride.

I look forward to sharing more about our 2022 strategy and path forward in the New Year.

A Christmas Message
As 2021 closes we look back on a year of highs and lows. Throughout all of it though we stood together as a club and as incoming Chairman I am proud of all those who were involved with Harlow Rugby this year.

On the field we hit the ground running and whilst we haven’t all seen the results we wanted, so much can be taken from what we have seen. How many games were the 1st team unbeaten for? At no point did we let COVID-19 get in the way, what this pressure showed us is that the future of Harlow Rugby is in capable hands. The number of Colts integrated in the 1st and 2nd teams shows the depth of talent now prevalent at Harlow.

Despite all the dramas that occurred in 2020 the newly appointed Coaches and Committee members are already working hard towards the success of 2022. Both on and off the field we will work to elevate Harlow Rugby Club to greater heights.

We will be facing some determined and ambitious clubs next year keen to make their mark. With the talent in this Club and the determination of our coaches I firmly believe we are ready to face the challenges that lie ahead. Despite our temporary bar closure – off the field Harlow will continue to be the example of how to enjoy rugby with your friends.

There are too many people to thank for their efforts in 2021, however I would like to personally thank outgoing Chairman Tracey Wedd for all the work she has done as Chairman over the years. I don’t think anyone quite realises (including me) how much commitment and endless hours of voluntary work it takes to be Chair. Simply, as someone who loves Harlow Rugby, I would like to say thank you to all those who took part in Season 2021 and I hope to see you all next year either on the field or just enjoying it from the bar or sidelines.

Merry Christmas, have a safe holiday and great New Year. See you at Latton Park in 2022.
