Hello everyone,
Spring is here, and although March flew by, what a month we have had, so much activity at the club we really have sprung into spring!
Coming soon in April..
Our events remain a significant revenue stream, generating income during periods without rugby and providing additional support when matches are held. All the money we raise is put back into running our club and providing facilities for rugby. You are our biggest sales force, please promote and support our events, bringing your friends and family to Latton Park along with you.
Under 23s (well ish…) Exciting news, everyone! You won’t want to miss this!
Our u23s game on Saturday 4th April at 2pm will welcome a number of players back to Latton Park, supported by a number of players helping make sure we have a cracking game which Luke Hammond has agreed to referee. We have enough players for two sides, though a couple players would be very welcome. If you would like to be part of this unique event, please let me know! pauloweneynon@gmail.com

Ask the Chair
Thank you to those who came to “Ask the Chair” on Wednesday 25th March.
Sunday club opening hours. We are open until 4pm (we may stay open longer dependent on those in the club, if we are empty at 4pm we will close.) The exception is when the Ladies are at home and we are open until 6pm (again we may stay open longer if the club is in use. We have updated the hours on Google and the Website.
Sunday Car Parking: Despite having much more car parking than many clubs, we have asked for volunteers to run our car park at busy times, we occasionally are able to resource this so that we can fit more cars into the available space and closer together, but we don’t have the volunteers, and cannot afford to pay someone to make this a regular feature. We could open the gate by Puffers Green; this is dependent on a few things. 1. We don’t have right of way and need to ask for permission in advance. (it’s a private road). We have emergency access only by default. 2. The ability of the grass to take the weight of a car. (noting electric cars are heavier) We need to test before we open, and it’s been very wet so far this year. 3. We need someone to control where cars park. Additional parking is available in the streets around the club, please park legally or expect a ticket.
Minis pitches: possible reconfiguration for next season.
Tours and support for teams: We have some teams who are going the extra mile to improve the experience for their players. We as a club we are keen to support, if you have ideas and can get a team of people together to make something positive happen for your team, please go for it! If you need any advice, please get in touch.
Next Meet The Chair: 8pm Tuesday 5th May
Touch line Smoking & Vaping
Following a members request to the Executive we were asked to consider a touchline smoking and vaping ban. The Exec agreed to:
- – Enforce no smoking and vaping policy with our coaches and managers while games and training are underway.
- – We will push this through our chairs of rugby – Ladies and girls Kelly Smith, Minis Craig Armstrong, Youth Adam Clark, 1st XV/2nd XV Paul Tucker 3rds Tasha Stallman.
Highlights from March
Did you go to the Showdown, Saracens v Northampton at the Tottenham Stadium? Did you see shirt number 18 worn by Marco Riccioni? We sold a massive 57 tickets for the game; Saracens put our club badge on Marco’s shirt! This shirt will be framed and given to us afterwards as a keepsake. during a presentation for the Saracens v Gloucester game on Saturday 16th May. Many thanks to Stuart Crump and our pitch side team for helping organise out ticket sales.
Under 12s girls Saturday night,
Harlow RFC proudly hosted Hertford, Shelford and Bishop’s Stortford on 14th March for an all‑girls U12 and U14 Saturday night floodlit rugby festival — the first event of its kind at the club. The atmosphere was brilliant throughout, with all teams contributing to a fantastic evening of rugby. Read more
Under 11s Guard of Honour for the 1st XV v Holt
The under 11s ran out with the 1st XV before their game against Holt on 21st March. This was a special end to the 1st XV home league games this season which the team celebrated with a 97-5 win. Thank you to the first team for allowing the Under 11s to run out with for today’s game with Holt. All the boys were buzzing. Thank you.

Sponsors lunch: Saturday 21st March
We had an excellent Sponsors Lunch prior to the Holt 1st XV game at Harlow where we extended our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors, over a 140 people sat down for lunch, for their invaluable support throughout this season. Their commitment and generosity are instrumental to the club’s continued growth and success at every level, from our six-year-olds in the minis discovering the joy of the game, through our vibrant age-grade rugby pathway, and right up to our senior men’s and ladies’ teams who represent Harlow on the pitch with pride.
We held a raffle to raise funds for the development of rugby at Harlow which raised over £600. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket.
Congratulations to Ben Jarvis with a winning bid of £750 for our Luke “The Nuke” Littler shirt. Money raised is going to support the Colts with Veo Video Analysis, development plans and a tour in 2027. Thank you Jarvo!
Under 11s Friday Night, Great to see our under 11s out on Friday night entertaining the crowds. The put on a great show supported by our 1st XV coaches who gave them a team talk before they went out to play, and the Colts who were water boys on the day. Take a look at the program they put together here just Wow! What a great effort from the team. Well done Sarah Vanbeck and Craig Armstrong.
This was followed by a great social game played against Hatfield, they came away with a 28-10 win, thank you to everyone that played and helped out and supported them.. Great to see rugby at the club on a Friday night!

Schools tournaments

We have been hosting a number of Schools Tournaments at Harlow this month and taking the opportunity to hand out flyers to players to encourage them to join our club.
Rugby tournaments were hosted for Years 3/4, 5/6 and a special Girls only tournament on Friday 13th 20th, 27th March. Lots of schools attended
Jerounds shared a great photo of their players with the Harlow crew lead by Rambo in the background. Great work folks.
300 Club
We have noticed that participation in our 300 Club has dropped. Do you know what it is?
The “300 Club” is a form of fundraising for HRUFC whereby each member is allocated a permanent number, from 1 to 300, and entered in a monthly draw. Members and Non-Members aged 16 and over, pay £5 per number monthly by direct debit and can select as many numbers as desired.
The monthly draw will take place each month. Each month three numbers will be selected at random to win monetary prizes. More info & sign up here: https://harlowrugby.club/social-membership
Senior Male Players
New Approach: we finalised our player availability and selection policy following our meeting players meeting on 17th March. This is published on our club web site for adoption from next season and is available here
7s or 10s tournaments: we haven’t entered teams in the past few years into 7s or 10s tournaments. Would your like to? Perhaps you could take a lead in getting a group of players together. If you are interested, please get in touch so we can work how the club can support you.
Open and Urgent Roles
- Grants Manager – Can you help us research and apply for grants? There are resources available, but we need someone to coordinate applications. If you’re interested, you’ll have plenty of support from the Executive. As examples,
- Grants are available for us to take opportunities hosting community events where the funding can be split across organisation, an event leader and facility rental.
- Facility upgrades, in some cases grants are available for us to improve our facilities, this often involves matched funding.
URGENT: Rugby Management Roles
We are currently seeking a Chair of Rugby, but this role can be split into manageable parts. Could you help in one of these areas? If so, please get in touch with me.
- Coaching Co-ordinator – Ensure all our players have a positive experience at Harlow, following a curriculum supported by appropriate training.
- Schools Co-ordinator – Help us develop a vibrant schools programme, secure funding, and oversee its operation.
- Walking Rugby Co-ordinator – Could you help us re-launch walking rugby for the club?
- Colts Head Coach – We are looking to transition our under 16s into the Colts side for 2026/27. We have lots of support available including Veo video support and support from existing coaches.
- Under 15s Head Coach (under 16s 2026/27)– Our under 15s side folded in 2025/26 and we are looking resurrect the side link a phoenix being reborn. We have a core group of players that need a head coach to give them direction and help them grow participation and recruit new members from schools and the local community.
- Chair of Rugby – Oversee the above roles and help shape the future of rugby at Harlow. I am happy to mentor you or even share the responsibilities as you settle in.
Celebration time
As we head towards the end of the season our thoughts lead into presentation days and evenings as we celebrate our season’s achievements. We will be having a couple of fabulous events:
- Mini, Youth and Girls presentation day: Sunday 10th May
- Club Awards night: including senior presentation and club awards Saturday 16th May.
Personal note
There are so many different things we can accomplish together, we have a great club full of great people in a great location. All the activity this month shows what we can achieve as we support each other. Thank you and well done to all of you who have made these events happen.
It’s our club if you want to make something happen for your team, section, group, please consider this your invite to make something happen and make a positive contribution. If you need some help, please ask and we can help point you in the right direction.
I look forward to seeing you around the club soon.
