Live Music: Best in Reggae – Triple X
Triple X, deriving their name from one of their tracks titled “Triple X Blue,” has cultivated a robust fan base in the pubs and clubs where they perform. They are known for their renditions of popular reggae songs, as well as infusing their unique Triple X reggae style into various non-reggae tracks. Their debut album, “Never Say Never,” was recorded at the renowned Mad Professor’s Ariwa studio located in Blackheath. The band also headlined a sold-out performance at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, delivering an electrifying live set that featured both covers and original compositions. Additionally, they performed at the esteemed Ronnie Scott’s, where they supported local singer-songwriter Lol Williams and captivated the audience with an impressive live show. Their second album, “No Easy Way,” was produced at A-Class studio, the home of the iconic UK reggae label Fashion Records, which is famously associated with the hit “Police Officer” by Smiley Culture. The album was engineered by Chris Lane, a reggae producer with an extensive portfolio, including collaborations with Maxi Priest and numerous other reggae legends. Their third album, “Captain Sticky,” was produced by Grant Bowden, also known as Plastic Jam.
