Friday 27th March was a special one for our Under 11s, as they hosted Old Grammarians in their first ever game under the lights – and what a night it turned out to be.
From the moment the boys arrived, it felt different. Walking into the home changing room to see their shirts laid out, the excitement was clear. After a focused warm-up and a few words from Ian Rundall, Rob Macpherson-Smith, Brad Etherington and Mobasher Mahammed, they were ready.
The matches were played in great spirit, backed by a fantastic crowd who created a brilliant atmosphere. With Harlow fielding 26 players to Old Grammarians’ 15, several of our boys proudly pulled on opposition shirts to ensure both sides had even numbers – a brilliant example of the respect and sportsmanship we want to see at this club.
Axel Brooks and Zak Thompson were deservedly named Players of the Match, showing exactly what can happen when effort and attitude come together.

But this night was about more than just rugby. From the presentation of personalised hoodies and kit bags, to both teams coming together in the changing room singing Teenage Dirtbag, it was a reminder of what this club stands for – community, respect, and enjoyment.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it happen. Nights like this don’t come around by chance—they’re built by great people coming together. And for a group of young players, it’s a memory that will stay with them for a long time.
