Important Reminder – Discipline

An Important Message from Ken Potter – Hon Secretary on behalf of the Club Executive

We hope this finds you well and, no doubt, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2025/26 rugby season which, it is hoped, will be successful and enjoyable for all involved.

This is the time of year when the Club has to remind everyone – players, coaches, managers, spectators, parents etc of the core values of the RFU (Core Values | Rugby Football Union) and the expectations of our constituent body Essex RFU as well as Harlow RUFC regarding the behaviour of all involved in the game (on and off the playing field).  In this regard, we ask you to read and understand the undernoted link https://essexrugby.com/discipline-note/

Like the RFU and Essex RFU, Harlow RUFC totally condemns poor behaviour on and off the field and we will not hesitate to take the strongest possible actions against those who fail to behave in an acceptable manner, whether that be on the field of play, the touchline or in clubhouses.  We will not hesitate to impose the heaviest of sanctions (up to and including indefinite banning from the Club and its’ activities) against those found to be guilty of such behaviour regardless of any other sanction that the RFU or Essex RFU may impose.

In particular, Harlow RUFC will not accept:-

  • Verbal or physical abuse of match officials
  • Uninvited entry on to the field of play
  • Serious, pre-meditated foul play

Harlow RUFC has worked hard in recent years to build a reputation as a Club who seeks to play hard but always within the laws of the game and will not stand by and let this work go to waste by the unacceptable actions (physical or verbal) of those who do not have the best interests of the Club at heart.

To end on a more positive note, it is clear that all teams throughout the Club have worked/are working extremely hard throughout the pre-season to ensure they hit the ground running when the first whistle of the new season blows and we sincerely thank you for all of your efforts.

Wishing you all a great season ahead!

Thank you

Ken Potter

Hon Secretary
