Mixed Ability Tour May 2025

Over 50 players and parents from Harlow rugby club attended the wooded spoon mixed ability festival for the second consecutive year held at Broadstreet rugby club.

Joining forces with our close friends from Chelmsford Rugby Club the players and parents departed Harlow rugby club and started the journey to Coventry whereby old and new friendships started to begin. As soon as we arrived the Wooden Spoon team got every up on their feet with some active warm up whereby the coaches were pulling out some suspect moves.

Harlow entered both an Over 15 and Under 15 team as well as forming an Essex Barbarians team with Chelmsford. With an attendance of over 800 players/parents and carers from all over country, Harlow u15 started off strong with tries being scored from all over the pitch with some exceptional running from James, Freddie, and Alfie. Micky was captaining the side and doing an excellent job of giving out his order in defence and attack. Mason used his fancy footwork whilst Hayley and Fran were passing very well to their teammates. Strong running from Ayla gave the team options on the field.

Over on the Over 15 teams the team was blitzing tries from strong running from Henry, Danny, and Oliver. Strong in the middle of the park way Leah and Zac being the hub of the defence and making their debuts was Chelsea and Chloe who run non-stop. A highlight of the day was seeing Wooden Spoon Ambassador Jodie Ounsley aka Fury from Gladiators

Both teams played 4 games and the friendships with other teams really shone through. At the end of the games the players and parents were treated to food and a disco on the first team pitch however with the players giving their all we retired back to the hotel whereby they earned a nice night’s sleep

The next morning the team come down for breakfast and once all packed away we headed back home. All coaches were extremely proud of the efforts and skill set that the players produced for the festival and we look forward to the festival in 2026.
