Who Are the Vice Presidents at HRUFC?

You’ve probably seen or heard about our Vice Presidents (VPs)—maybe you’ve even spotted them enjoying a drink or a meal at one of the events during the season. But being a VP is about a lot more than socialising!

Our VPs play a huge role in supporting the club. They help with fundraising, get involved on committees, and generally do whatever they can to keep HRUFC moving forward. Many of them were even part of the success in securing planning permission for the new Clubhouse.

So, who exactly are they?

Vice Presidents are usually (but not always) current or former HRUFC players who’ve been invited to join as a way of recognising their contribution to the club.

That said, any paid-up member can be nominated.

There’s no strict checklist for becoming a VP—it’s more about being someone who’s shown consistent support for the club over time. That might be through playing, coaching, volunteering, organising, fundraising, or just generally helping out whenever needed. Becoming a VP is our way of saying thank you for everything you’ve done (and continue to do) for HRUFC.

The Club retains the discretion to determine how Life Membership is awarded.

Life Membership is an honour reserved for an individual whose exceptional loyalty, service, and contribution have delivered a measurable benefit to the Club over an extended period, whether historically or in recent times. It should only be granted in truly exceptional circumstances. This is a significant and prestigious recognition, and its value must be preserved.

Candidates for Life Membership should demonstrate a sustained, meaningful, and a high-quality service that contributes to the reputation and long-term success of the Club.

Want to nominate someone (or yourself)?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

✅ Players – Regular players, captains, or coaches who are reliable, supportive, and great role models.
✅ Coaches – Those who’ve coached at different levels and helped players of all ages develop their skills, technique, and discipline.
✅ Non-playing contributors – People, volunteers, who manage teams, sort through the admin, organize events, support those who do, or raise funds through sponsorship and other activities.
✅ General legends – Anyone who’s made a big difference behind the scenes, whether that’s catering, groundskeeping, or looking after the Clubhouse.

To be nominated, you need to be an existing fully paid-up member. While it’s not mandatory, VPs are encouraged to make an annual donation on top of their VP membership payment to help support the club. Please email membership@harlowrugby.club to set this up or you can set up a Direct Debit alongside your GMS subs.
