Match Report

With a few late changes to the squad Harlow needed to be on top of their game at Romford. Within the first 8 minutes Harlow found themselves 7 points behind. With the Harlow scrumage going backwards the pack were under pressure with no platform to play off.
A strong tackle from fullback Ryan Mcglone forced Romford to knock on the ball. Winger Scott Whitby seized the opportunity picking up the loose ball & running the length of the pitch scoring Harlows first try. With the score at 7 – 5 Harlow found themselves defending their line preventing Romfords charging runs. But a rare Harlow attack saw their back line stretch the Romford defence. Resulting in Harlow’s winger Dale Stalley second try. With Smith converting, the score was now 7 – 12 at the 19 minutes mark.
Romford kept their discipline & scored 2 tries in 10 minutes, the last coming from a scrum; the ball was popped up to their centre who brushed through Harlows defence to score Romfords 3rd try. With Romford being awarded a penalty the kick made the score 22 – 12 at half time.

The second half started well for Harlow with Smith converting a penalty for a high tackle. With the score at 22 – 15. Harlow failed to stamp any authority on the game. Even with 2 players off the park with yellow cards for foul play Romford ran though Harlow’s weak defence scoring 3 tries. With a final converted penalty Romford ran in winners 43 – 15 resulting in Harlow going into the Christmas period placed 5th in the table.
