Harlow Ladies’ first league match of the season was played 12 aside, due to Kilburn’s reduced numbers. Harlow went down 0-7 in the first five minutes of the game with one of Kilburn’s fast runners sprinting round the outside. After a period of settling into the game, Harlow sustained possession for some good phases of play, culminating in shipping the ball out to speedy winger Victoria McGoldrick, who ran half the pitch to score; unfortunately the conversion was missed.

Harlow maintained their pattern and the hard work paid off when Ana Jorge, Centre, shimmied through a gap and scored under the posts: Becky Bryant converted.
Harlow 12 – Kilburn 7
Unfortunately Kilburn’s injured prop had to leave the field, resulting in uncontested scrums for the rest of the match.
Half Time: Harlow 12 – Kilburn 7
Again, Kilburn scored immediately from the off, by their winger sprinting around the outside of two Harlow forwards; try converted.
Harlow 12 – Kilburn 14
Harlow regained their momentum and after camping in Kilburn’s 22 for some time, Hannah Walkner scored under the posts and subsequently converted her own try.
Harlow 19 – Kilburn 14
Again Kilburn worked hard and capitalised on a gap in the Harlow defence and scored their third try, and then converted it, putting them 2 points ahead.
Harlow 19 – Kilburn 21
Harlow rallied; they were determined to score again and found themselves back in Kilburn’s 22. Lack of discipline form Kilburn resulted in a penalty for Harlow in front of the posts with eight minutes to go: the penalty was successfully kicked by Becky Bryant.
Harlow 22 – Kilburn 21
Harlow, determined to uphold their defence, managed to work their way back to Kilburn’s 22 and Hannah Walkner scored her second try of the match: the conversion was missed, but required, as the final whistle blew.
