2022 AGM, CLUB EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND CHAIRMAN’S UPDATE

Earlier this month the club hosted it’s AGM where amongst other things the clubs executive committee was appointed. With no new nominations for any of these positions the incumbent executive is empowered to nominate members for these roles and as such they nominated the following:

Executive Officers
Chairman: Paul Tucker
Vice Chairman: Stephen Foreman
Chair of Rugby:  Paul Tucker
Honorary Secretary: Christopher McFerran
Treasurer: Tracey Wedd
Members’ Representative: Ben White
Members’ Representative: Jack Christy

Co-Opted Member’s Representative
Post AGM Victoria Broad has been co-opted as our 3rd Members’ Representative. Victoria will also take on the role of executives minutes secretary. We all wish Victoria well in her new role on the executive.

A special note at the AGM was saved for Alan Brooking as our outgoing General Manager and Zoe Harman as our incoming Chief Operating Officer.

Latton Park General Manager
Alan Brooking retired as General Manager at the end of June 2022. The words I have to say are dwarfed by the achievements and positive influence this clubman has brought to bear. As a Volunteer; Past Player; 1st XV Captain; Tourist; Club Chairman; Life Member and most recently Latton Park Move Chair Alan was instrumental in planning our move from Ram Gorse to Latton Park. Without his vision, determination and stickability I doubt we would be sitting here now and would still be shuffling through mounds of paperwork, planning applications and grappling with all the governance, legalities and financial considerations such a huge undertaking warrants. We all owe Alan a great deal. Alan will still be visible and continue on at the club as volunteer grounds manager and international tickets secretary.

Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Zoe Harman joined our team as Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective 1st June 2022.  Zoe comes to us with a background in project management in charge of overseeing all project management office (PMO) operations. Zoe is a self-starter, highly collaborative, quick learner, self-motivated, highly approachable and driven. Zoe has extensive knowledge of managing change and has previously worked in the sports and leisure hospitality industry. Zoe has a strong link to the club, understands the challenges of balancing the needs of the business and the wants of club and will do everything to ensure we maintain our identity – we will not lose our raison d’être of ‘all things rugby’. In this role, Zoe will report to the club chairman and advise on advancing growth and furthering our proposition whilst working hand in hand covering all the practicalities of running the club and club office.

Thanks went to our trustees, colleagues on the executive, the club cfficers, captains, managers, coaches, referees, players, and our army of volunteers, for all their fantastic hard work over the past year. Thanks also went to our management team and our staff who endeavour to give all members and visitors a great experience at Latton Park and to groundcare solutions for maintaining our pitches. Thanks went to the many club sponsors who assisted us financially last season, with special thanks to Whiskers for their continuing generous support as our clubs principal sponsor. We look to work with individuals and companies that share our values and our love of sport, creating partnerships that supports common goals, values and objectives. The support from our clubs sponsors is invaluable and I know is really appreciated by the players and the club. I for one am very proud to understand the longevity of our many relationships.

Strategic Plan
So, one year into my role of Chairman what have we done ……. to give you a flavour, after a long and robust interview process we appointed Zoe Harman as COO. We are reviewing the relationship between the club and the trading company, we are reviewing all our behaviours, we are reviewing our marketing, the potential confusion and conflict between Harlow Rugby Club and Latton Park. We are reviewing operational procedures and working on better joined-up collaborations with our existing and new partners!

There is much, much more to come watch this space……….. but, I hope you are as excited as I am by the next 12 months and opportunities ahead, both on and off the field!

Tux
“Be safe, be smart, be kind!”

Paul Tucker
