Match Report

UNDER 11s

It was a bright crisp day as we journeyed to Crow Lane Romford to take on Romford and Enfield in three way morning of rugby.  We played 10 a side to give the kids as much game time as possible. The pitches quickly thawed from the overnight frost and the kids were looking forward to getting stuck in. We were straight into game time.

1st Game Romford v Harlow

1st Half – Lost 3-0

Captain: Archie Goodger

Harlow kicked off and were quickly on the defensive as the Romford team had a number of big players who carried the ball hard. It took a little time to get to the rucking working efficiently but the kids grew in confidence and quickly worked out what to do.  Unfortunately the Romford kids were running hard and running in the tries so after 10 minutes of play it was time to change the team.

Team: Montel Levy, Amity Mignot, Corey Kelman, Owen Eynon, Charlie Jacques, Jake Collier, Callum Hewett, Archie Goodger, Bailey Smith, Alex Kingston-Hyde

2nd Half: – Lost 2-0

Romford kicked off and we continued to work hard in the ruck and return the ball with powerful drives. The big guys from Romford kept coming and notched up a couple of tries.

Team: Henry Stovell, Will Pite, Jacques Mignot, Gabriel Cusick, Rhys Casey, Harley Brown, Tobie Westbrook, Jacob Morgan, Gabe Greaves, Joe Court, Teddy Keys

Final score: 5-0

 2nd Game Harlow v Enfield

1st Half – Drawn 1-1

Captain: Corey Kelman

Enfield kicked off to us and this was a much tighter half of rugby. Out try came from a kick ahead by Montelle which was chased well by Montelle and Henry. Montelle’s pressure on the Enfield defender meant he spilled the ball and Henry was alongside his team mate to pounce and ground the ball for a try. We saw some great tackling in this game from Archie, Corey, Charlie and even Jake which is great to see. The rucking improved but we just couldn’t find enough space to run into.

Team: Montel Levy, Archie Goodger, Charlie Jacques, Callum Hewett, Jake Collier, Teddy Keys, Henry Stovell, Amity Mignot, Alex Kingston-Hyde, Owen Eynon

2nd Half – Lost 0-2

Harlow kicked off with a fresh team on from the re-start. Still a tight half of rugby and the bigger boys from Enfield didn’t have the success of the big lads from Romford. This was tempered by the great defence play from the team. Great tackles coming in from Rhys, Joe and Tobie while Jacob is making clearing a ruck out a speciality.

Team: Will Pite, Bailey Smith, Rhys Casey, Harley Brown, Joe Court, Tobie Westbrook, Jacob Morgan, Jacques Mignot, Gabe Greaves, Gabriel Cusick

 Full time: 1-3

The morning finished off with a Harlow v Harlow game to the side and continue our work on rucking, passing and generally working on looking after the ball.

Man of the match today went to Henry, he tackled low, he carried the ball confidently and he worked hard to make things happen for the team on the pitch. He topped it off with our only try of the day.
