Match Report

Sunday 29/1/23 Harlow u14s girls team took on a big, fast and powerful Dagenham girls team at home.
Unfortunately Harlow we’re unable to field a full team due to injuries and absenteeism which meant Dagenham kindly loaned us some players so we could compete as a full team.
Harlow started off well with a strong defence, with tackles being made  left, right and centre, but the speed and strength of the opposition proved too much for our girls and the first try was scored early on.
Not long after this our scrum half (Laila) was replaced for treatment to a recurring injury, but that couldn’t hold her back and returned the pitch within minutes.
The Harlow girls showed grit and determination in the first half, with but went down 5 tries to nil.
During the match Dagenham rotated their players on our team meaning that our girls were never able to settle, as they had to constantly change positions to accommodate the loan player.
Second half was a mirror of the first with our girls playing their hearts out, unfortunately their were numerous injuries to the Harlow girls with two leaving the field and unable to return. The Dagenham girls used their power and speed to break through our defence time and again with some gutsy last ditch tackle restricting the away team to three more tries. Harlow, dis however manage to get a try back after a rare period of sustained attacks linking play between players from both teams.
Special mention has to go to Evie, Eden and wiki for their tackling and ball in hand and a big shout out to Laila who, despite her bumps and bruises continued to play as she refused to let her team down.
Final score Harlow 5, Dagenham 44
